West and central African elephants are nearly gone and poaching has turned to East Africa. If the dirty business of selling ivory continues at its current pace, elephants will be extinct in fifteen years. Over 150,000 elephants have been killed in the past 5 years. 

You'll get your fill of "African massage" (bumping down pocked dirt roads in a Land Rover) on your game drives. East Africa is a beautiful but vast and charter flights are the preferred mode of transportation rather than driving between camps and cities.
